Bas Armagnac XO Hors d'Age, at least 10 years old. Premium product from Domaine Garreau.

Cognac's big brother. Made from the traditional Armagnac grape varieties: Folle Blanche, Baco and Ugni Blanc.c.

The hors d'age is traditional the flagship of every domain . Every year, an up-to-date Hors d'Age is put together at Chateau Garreau from the Armagnacs that have now been stored and are at least 10 years old. Sometimes Armagnacs are used that are significantly older than 10 years. Care is taken to ensure that each Hors d'Age reflects the style and character of the domaine and terroir. Terroir means the soil, the environment and the people who have lived and worked there for centuries. This creates the characteristic interplay of eye (the color of Armagnac), nose (smell and fleeting scents) and mouth (taste, texture and reverberation).

This hors d'age is the perfect introduction to the Bas-Armagnac growing region . Very well balanced, it develops a very wide spectrum of aromas and flavors with a marked citrus and orange note, passing to notes of vanilla, violet. Round and complete.

All Armagnacs are distilled on the stills that you see here in the product images. The only "technological innovation" that has been used for a number of years has been gas firing. The temperature during distillation is easier to control than with wood firing. You simply have less waste.

Tasting Notes: Dark amber color. Candied fruit, orange and dates on the nose. Rich and expressive mouth where citrus fruits are present. A very gentle start on the palate, which is confirmed in the finish. An incredible balance, a wealth of flavors. Gold medal Gilbert et Gaillard 2017. Grade 92/100. Gold Medal at the Chinese Wine and Spirits Awards in 2013. Bronze Medal at the 1st Challenge of the Best French Spirits for Germany 2014. Honored and awarded with the Gold Medal at the Concours Général Agricole Paris in 2014.

The XO Hors d'Age has matured for at least 10 years and has a minimum alcohol content of 40%

Our Armagnacs are made at Chateau Garreau in France in a family tradition that goes back more than 100 years. They are then aged in oak barrels in the estate's underground cellar (unique and spectacular of its kind). A proven delicacy. We know the producers and their domains in Bas-Armagnac personally. The production of Armagnac was first mentioned in documents in the 15th century. Cognac production only dates back to the 17th century
